Staying at the Foveaux Hotel was a lovely experience. Mike and Pam were cute and shared great local insights. Our room was neat, comfortable, and we really appreciated the electric blankets on a cool Bluff night. The large ensuite bathroom was a nice touch. I enjoyed the self-service continental breakfast, especially the variety of teas available. The inviting lounge and dining areas added a cozy charm to our evenings. One minor downside was the restaurant being closed , which affected our dining options. The breakfast offerings more than made up for it. The lack of a kettle in the room was slightly inconvenient, but complimentary tea and coffee in the dining area helped. This hotel is a great choice for anyone visiting Bluff.

The essentials, minus the fluff
Charming hosts. The hotel's proximity to the ferry terminal is a major plus. A cozy bar and the good Art Deco features added to the experience. I appreciated the electric blankets that kept me warm on a cool night!

We recommend this hotel, spent here good 1 night. The venue was in a central location close to bars and restaurants. What's more, it was so close to other food places, and the shops. Really enjoyed staying at the family room with 2 single beds. The atmosphere created was family.

Charming building with a colorful history.
The overpowering smell of cleaning agents. I had to leave the window open the entire time just to breathe. The room was small and could certainly use updates, which are apparently planned for the future.

Whatever you need is this tidy and en suite room with fridge and a spa bath, for instance. The atmosphere of the hotel is quiet!

The hotel feels like it's stuck in the late 70s or early 80s!!! Shared baths may not suit all guests, and the general vibe lacks modern touches!!!

Bluff is a treasure for red meat lovers, and this spot didn't disappoint. The lovely Art Deco lounge was cozy, and the continental breakfast had me set for a day of culinary adventures. Parking is a bonus.
Now, I can't think of a thing to critique about the hotel, but if I had to twist it, I'd say, maybe a couple more dining options would take it from good to great. Still, the charm shines bright!

Our stay was for just one night, during which we aimed to visit Stewart Island. The hosts were welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. The room was tidy and comfortable, and the self-service breakfast allowed us to start our day at our own pace. Plus, having a flat-screen TV and Netflix in the room was a nice touch for relaxing after a long day exploring. We appreciated being able to park our car there while we took our trip to Rakiura/Stewart Island.

Charming old-world character with good hosts who are always ready to share local tips. Access to the kitchen for tea and coffee any time was a lovely touch. The room felt dated, which might not suit everyone, and the setup of shared bathrooms could be inconvenient for some. Limited dining options nearby may require planning, but the complimentary breakfast sets a good start.
